Oil on Canvas
Christina attended Centenary College, then went on to obtain a BFA from Rutgers University. However, she attributes most of her art education to Carroll Jones, internationally artist, whom she studied under for 4 years. She painted her first commission at age 15.
Each one of Christina’s etchings is meticulously drawn on a copper plate then etched into acid. After many acid baths and several different processes, the plate is ready to print. Using an oil-based ink, the plate is hand-rubbed then wiped and run through a press. Each original print is hand-pulled in this manner then let to dry. When dry, each print is hand-painted, signed and numbered.
A giclée is a French term meaning “to spray” referring to how an inkjet printer works and how giclée prints are usually produced. To make a high quality print the scanner or camera must have a very high resolution, at least 300DPI or ‘dots per inch’. The paper needs to be “archival’ and the inks are pigment-based instead of ink-based.
